UKECP is a Defra/industry partnership that:
- Liaises with the UK livestock and livestock products industries to establish export market priorities;
- Provides a forum to discuss the use of Defra agents to negotiate export health certificates on behalf of the UK; and
- Assists in the drafting of export health certificates which are generally required before exports can take place.
The United Kingdom Export Certification Partnership (UKECP) was established in October 2008 by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and Export Certification Ltd (ECL). The partnership joins UK Government and Industry resource to secure and maintain market access for the UK’s breeding livestock, red meat and genetics exporters.

‘To combine Government and Industry resource in a cohesive partnership dedicated to removing barriers, opening new markets and maintaining access to ensure as many international markets as possible are open to the UK’s red meat, livestock and genetics exporters.’

Checking certificate availability
Exporters needing to check availability of export health certificates for any of the products or species covered by the partnership should visit the Export Health Certificate pages on GOV.UK.

If an Export Health Certificate is needed for a new market please contact admin@ukecp.com with details of the commodity and as much information about the potential market value. For exports of live animals for breeding additional information will be required.
